eHarmony.com is the concept of Dr. Warren. He's a man with a plan to find you an ideal match. The good doctor’s theory contends each personality can be measured by a “simple” online questionnaire. Notice those sarcastic looking quotations marks? The man believes there are 29 dimensions to everyone’s personality, suffice it to say that in the time it took me to complete this Warren report, I could also have passed the New York state bar exam (including the 3 years of college beforehand).

This guy is serious about analyzing your character, its flaws and features. Least of all, it must surely ensure that the people you’re going to find on this site are highly motivated in their endeavor to meet someone. You probably won't find any “just curious” or “nothing better to do on a Friday night” singles here. Only the true hardcore daters with an actual mate-finding mission in mind would put in such a concerted effort to find the right person.

"Visit eHarmony if you want to try something that promises truly accurate matches..."

A standardized personality test can’t be any more accurate than the quiz in last month’s Cosmo, right? I did find the report generated by Dr. Warren’s multi-stage, multi-page profile analysis was pretty much on the mark when it came to describing me, so maybe it isn’t all hooey. You know who I am but how exactly do you find my type’s perfect match?

Think of all the clichés: “opposites attract”, “two peas in a pod”, “birds of a feather flock together”, “ebony and ivory”, “it doesn’t matter if you’re black or white” – okay, I threw in some song titles one of which doesn’t even make sense in this context, but I am delirious after filling out so many less-than-obvious queries. There are no straightforward questions such as favorite color or flavor of ice cream. It isn’t as simple as finding someone who gave the same answers or all the opposite responses—or is it?

Rather than continuing to ponder the magical machinations of the Warren match-up method, I’ll return to the simple facts about the site. After having spent much time filling out the required information, my analysis was not instantaneously provided. Instead, I read the FAQs and lo and behold, it was explained the site only plans to give me 12 to 25 results per year. Expecting anything in the first few hours was expecting too much.

Warren’s unique and “patented” process was never designed to be fast. However, as “special” as the system may be, $50 a month for your membership is not quite as ideal as you'd expect. Visit eHarmony if you want to try something that promises truly accurate matches, but not if you plan to meet someone fast or soon.

I had no problems with this service - I had more than enough matches to work with (sometimes it became tiresome). I had control of the communication - especially when one guy was a little TOO insistant that we communicate off line (Close match on that one!) I met my husband on it. And it s not all fundies - we re agnostic. It matches according to religious preference if you have one (or not!).

I heard that this site was run by fundamentalists and bigots. I was like... whatever. I don t believe that. Then I read some of their advice columns and the one on being sexually attractive said that something like 60% of your attraction comes from your soul ... and the advice was to pray . Uhhhh. Yah. No thanks. I joined this site once years ago as well... no matches... and almost no locals.

I thought this site was charging way too much money. Even though it was fun to have a personality profile, the first matche they provided was a guy who owned his own business - selling guns! Plus, he didn t like to read. That was in direct contradiction to the things I d put in my profile. The next guy didn t like to read, either. Oh, well...

Positive: The match feature is nice in that it did make me broaden my horizons somewhat from the purely physical. I think this is an important and noteworthy feature. This, however, is the note I sent them when asked why I was closing my account: I suspended my account and I find it atrocious that you would not clearly tell the people who are receiving my profile that this is the case. I ve been a member for about 6 months. I think this is probably the biggest waste of money I ve ever spent. First of all, majority of the matches they found for me were hundreds of miles away. Yes I m willing to travel, but not when they are a couple of states away. I think eHarmony does not know the meaning of willing to travel . Second, when sending communications to some of the matches, they j
