YahooPersonals.com is one of the most popular personals sites on the net, thanks to linking directly to Yahoo, which is one of the world’s most popular web portals. Yahoo used to have a certain alternative feel to it, being smaller and hipper than its online rivals. Nowadays, after growing success, it seems less nonconformist and more mainstream, but there are always cool diehard fans as well as tons of new folks who keep it their homepage. Perhaps its growth in popularity explains why its simple web personals have increased in price.

Setting up a profile on Yahoo Personals is easy and quick. You can skip steps if you like, but I found even filling out every response barely took five minutes, and the questions asked all seemed relevant to actually meeting someone. I would just note that there was a freeform essay about yourself, but not one about what you were looking for in a partner.

"What you're really paying for on Yahoo Personals is added exposure from the high amount of traffic the site receives."

The area describing your potential match is limited to selecting buttons or using dropdown menus. You can add up to five photos to your profile, too, but other features such as video and voice introductions have been removed. There's still a free personality test. It might provide further evidence of compatibility to other members.

One feature of YahooPersonals that remains impressive is the search engine. It's rather comprehensive, allowing you to select as many or as few criteria as you like at a time. You can search by zip or postal code to within five miles, as well as performing keyword searches. Moreover, you can save searches so you’re not repeatedly setting up the same criteria each time.

You can send a prewritten “icebreaker” for free. You can reply once for free if you receive such a message. However, it's only with a prewritten reply. For free-flowing communication with someone, you need to upgrade to a paid membership to use standard email or send instant messages. Upgrading is more expensive than it used to be. The monthly fee was less costly than other sites were, whereas now it's a rather standard price compared to others on the market.

What you're really paying for on Yahoo Personals is added exposure from the high amount of traffic the site receives. Otherwise, it doesn't offer more than other sites do. In fact, with no chat rooms or message boards, it has less to offer than many other dating sites. An even higher-priced membership offers you advanced matchmaking and access to exclusive profiles from members who, like you, paid extra. Yahoo Personals continues to be popular, but it comes to you for a higher price than it did before despite offering few extra features.

I thought this site was one sided in the fact that both parties has to have full memembership to communicant.I got many hits, but they cannot communicant back. I don t like the fact that the site doesn t let a payed memember leave his or her s information. I would not join this site again , EVER.

Save your money and time. I tried Yahoo s personals and sent about 25 emails out and never heard back from anyone. Most of the email I received was from Russia! Allegedly women who want to come to America and be your husband if you send them money so they can, ya right. You might might encounter one or two interesting people, but that s rare.

Yahoopersonals is okay EXCEPT for the fact that many of the people on the site are not really interested in legitimate dates. The men have this unrealistic idea of women and reject regular women thinking they will get models. Most of the same people have been on yahoopersonals for 5 years or more. The good thing about the site is that a nonpaying member can read and respond to emails.

While I did meet 3 or 4 people off of Yahoo s personals, they were all PHYCHO. One pulled a knife on me. Another threatened suicide. I got stories...

Paying for eposure is right. It s about as worthless as Match.com. Too many women have unrealistic expectations and demands, which doesn t help the search. Use at your own descretion.
